The Consistency of Follow up Treatments

Wednesday, July 18th, 2012

Today Zoe (not real name) walks in – Happy! It is summer after all, sticky and humid, but also full of sunshine – a lovely weekend has begun.Immediately, she notices the fresh smell of lavender essential oil (from Provence) diffused in the air and her big smile widens as she acknowledges her surroundings – as if to say – I love being here!

We have made a good start on her bikini and thighs as of last autumn, but like a true New Yorker, she has a very busy schedule.  As we proceed with the sessions, I notice and comment on her clean and smooth under arms, Zoe says, “This is the best thing I could have done to myself; remember how bushy they used to be?” Of course I do, when was your last treatment here?” “This is it, (as she strokes them to better remember the smoothness of them) since the last time with you a year ago” WOW! I am very impressed, you are the fastest results I have ever had! To which she replies, “I only wish I could have those consistent sessions today – I would be finished with my bikini project by now!”

At your Consultation/Evaluation, we cannot emphasize enough the consistency of follow up treatments – it is imperative to PERMANENCY – The objective – The goal – The resolution to “I wish it ALL would disappear!”

“To succeed, we must first believe that we can.”

Electrolysis BUZZ

Tuesday, February 15th, 2011

It is amazing to me that a proven method providing exceptional results for years–see centuries in this case, is being tabooed from the media and some institution.

Hence, I like to create a buzz to something close to my heart, providing reasons and success to this unparalleled practice.

Recently, I came across a day show conducted by a panel of doctors, the subject was a brief look at maintaining a clean healthy appearance with facial, massage and hair removal. Being literally surprise is an understatement, to hear that tweezing and waxing was their choice of hair removal.

Has anyone have heard of “electrolysis” the Only proven and FDA approved Permanent Hair removal method? Perhaps from the archives or with a faint limited view.

We know from facts, that stimulation like repeating friction and irritation in an already active (hairy) area, will only exacerbate the blood supply, generating the potential of more growth — subsequently, in time, accelerating the need to tweeze and wax. Because, the fine lanugo hairs themselves become coarser and deeper terminal hair, ingrown hair too, generally occurred as this frequent practice perpetuates the cycle.

It is easy to understand now, that tweezing an ingrown hair will only create matter worse — painful ingrown, plus you add the great potential of scar tissue and infected the region (non-sterilized tweezers).

Yes, in this twenty first century, we have come a long way in terms of knowledge and educating our selves and so, did the Electrology industry. Computerized combo equipment has long replaced the individual methods of the past. Galvanic (dc current), Shortwave (ac current) or the use of both simultaneously Blend method, are used according to individual need, just by a simple touch on the pad. The comfort level, the speed and precision is provide to meet everyone expectation at cost efficient level and permanent solution!

Dermatitis and Electrolysis

Wednesday, November 10th, 2010

Comprehensive consultation will enable the electrologist to be aware of all your needs. Allergic reaction to nickel for instance or witch hazel astringent (from witch hazel tree), will have a proactive action, when addressed pretreatment. Substitute to gold needle perhaps and hydrogen peroxide will certainly ease those issues. Our many approaches to comfort level are based on client feedback at the evaluation follow by a good communication.

The cause of contact dermatitis is direct contact with some substances like irritants; chemicals, rubber or latex, metals, such as nickel and jewelry and, allergens or both ingredients, in soaps, detergents and some cosmetics. Others, when the skin is exposed to sunlight (photocontact dermatitis) with shaving lotion, some sunscreens, perfumes. Also, airborne substances in pollen, ragweed, and insecticide spray.

An irritant might take a longer exposure time to cause contact dermatitis, contrary to the allergen. When to call? As soon as there is a skin irritation. See a doctor when there is skin eruption and or painfully itching or infected area.

Signs and symptoms of contact dermatitis include:

  • Red rash or bumps
  • Itching, which may be severe
  • Dry, red patches, which may resemble a burn
  • Blisters and draining fluid from the involved skin in severe cases
  • Skin rash limited to the exposed area
  • Pain or tenderness

In contact dermatitis, only the areas of skin exposed to the offending substances react. The area with the greatest exposure reacts most severely.

Electrolysis after Laser

Even with the perfect requirement for successful laser treatment; lighter skin and dark hairs, there are times, when we experienced at the consultation/evaluation, that someone had several sessions of laser performed on the face. No major improvement in hair removal or in some cases, reverse results–stimulating new amount of hair growth–will have someone seeking new approach with electrolysis.

This not so uncommon behavior, it is a chemical result of the heat on the blood vessels that in turns stimulate new follicles.

Electrolysis treats hairs individually at the root of the follicle, permanent removal will be totally achieve once the treatment is complete.

It is safe to treat several weeks after laser treatment, once the skin regain is stable, natural tone—doctor advice is a plus. Successful sets of treatments will have a rapid, visible clearance of all unwanted hairs.

Trendy laser treatments have shown a measure of success for some–in some areas, while not reaching full expectation—or worst, for others. Choices and options are made according to individual level of needs.

This is why, we value the need of our thorough consultation/evaluation, to gather crucial information needed, to design permanent removal—Your goal=Our goal.

Dark Skin and Electrolysis

Monday, July 26th, 2010

Unwanted hair and skin discoloration may cause troubling challenges for some. Keloids, acne and ingrown hair are a common concern for women and men a like.

Most of the time, in our office we see ingrown hair to be the culprit of dark spots (hyper-pigmentation). While the most common self-induced practice is tweezing and picking at ingrown hairs, it creates scar tissue and provides a catch 22 shadowy result in the area.

Regardless of the coarseness and shape of hairs, with unsurpassed results, the skin is able to recover its natural texture-glow as the hair disappears.

With advanced methods and techniques, the procedure and your comfort level is addressed every step of the way. Based on the comprehensive  consultation with one of our highly specialized professionals, your customized treatment plan will be your road map for your specific hair removal needs.
