Male Permanent Hair Removal Request

The male demand is increasing among all age groups and here is why: unibrows and bushy brows may start at puberty and so are treatments as early as adolescence. We have moved into a free society where dressing up for confidence is a culture and feeling polished is essential today.

The unwanted hair growth on the neck and shoulders along with the upper or lower back may undermine that open T- shirt or an intense exercise or else at the beach. It is very easy to taper some hairs and blend the comfort level of individuals to desired level and/or to a total removal of excess hairs. Electrolysis is versatile this way, unlike laser.

Ear and nose hairs (nostril edge, ear lobe) may emerge unsightly later in life, perhaps coarse and dense. If facial hair or body hair is darker than desired, there are choices. Pulling the hair is a great temptation to many, thus exacerbating the growth and also the thickness, where subsequently painful consequences will occur. Electrolysis is very precise.

Shaving can be an every day chore, let alone with shaving cuts, razor burns or increasing ingrown hairs. Permanent Hair Removal will address all of the above issues in addition to destroying the root of the hair shaft (the papilla-germinative cells). Electrolysis provides a smooth, glowing hair free skin for years to come. Electrolysis is color blind vs laser.

“Every man’s ability may be strengthened or increased by culture.”

Hirsutism

Tuesday, March 12th, 2013

Definition

Hirsutism (HER-soot-iz-um) is a condition of unwanted, male-pattern hair growth in women. Hirsutism results in excessive amounts of coarse and pigmented hair on body areas where men typically grow hair — face, chest and back. When excessively high androgen levels cause hirsutism, other signs may develop over time, a process called virilization.

The amount of body hair you have is largely determined by your genetic makeup. Hirsutism may arise from excess male hormones called androgens, primarily testosterone, or hirsutism may be due to an ethnic or family trait. By Mayo Clinic staff

Sometime with no explanatory reason, except for heredity, ethnic groups as to women of Mediterranean, Middle Eastern and South Asian ancestry, may experience some disorder http://bit.ly/Y5VhJL.

Hirsutism can be very stressful. Women, are generally speaking, self-conscious and disturbed, say emotionally as well as physically by excess of unwanted hair. Although there is no further physical complication, the underlying cause must be explored.

A combination of self-care and medical therapies provides effective treatment for many women with hirsutism.

Hirsutism is not to be confused by women in menopause or early sign of menopause with increased coarse chin or unwanted facial hair. Medication may also be the culprit of such event of unwanted hair. Your doctor and your electrologist will provide the help you need to differentiate the cause.

Test and diagnosis

Making a diagnosis of hirsutism begins with discussing your medical history. Your doctor may ask you about your menstrual cycles, the time of onset of your symptoms, whether you are taking any medications, and whether you have a family history of certain conditions. By Mayo Clinic staff

Prior to the doctor’s visit http://1.usa.gov/adMiXm

It is best to leave some hair growth (2 to 3 days) leading to your appointment. Your physician will be best served to determinate your hair growth pattern and guide you on a treatment plan.

Pain Threshold

Tuesday, February 26th, 2013

Men and women experience sensitivity when nerves are challenged. The perceived level (threshold) may also differ at certain times of the day for some as well as the tolerance.

However, in the journal of Psychosomatic Medicine it was found that “men had higher pain thresholds and tolerances and lower pain ratings than women – men are more motivated to tolerate and suppress expressions of pain”.

Suggestions prior to any treatment including hair removal by electrolysis:

*A good night sleep,

*No or low impact exercise,

*No caffeine,

*A balanced meal, will condition the body endurance to a more relaxing experience.

In a woman’s cycle, hormonal factors play a role in her perception of pain – generally speaking, we recommend avoiding treatments at this time.

EMLA: Eutectic Mixture of Local Anesthetics topical cream can be used prior to most skin treatments –by coming to the rescue! EMLA has been approved in the US for more than 15 years and is delivered by prescription only.

However, some medical conditions may interact with the lidocaine/prilocaine cream.

Tell your doctor, pharmacist and your electrologist if you have any medical conditions, especially if any of the following apply to you:

*if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or are breast-feeding

*if you are taking any prescriptions

Great Experience – the measure of

Tuesday, January 15th, 2013

There is much more to removing hair then just the mechanical action of epilating. We like to think of ourselves to be instrumental in improving people’s lives.

The dialogue we have with the mirror every morning is gracious or scrupulous – pleasant or decisive.

The fundamental emotion and the actual decision behind every appointment – not always easy to come to terms with, is a commitment for well-being, similar to a diet of choice or exercise.

It is a part of our culture or our trend to have sleek and smooth skin. Brushing on self-esteem is the best de-stress remedy – when you smile, the world smiles with you – feeling!

The science of hair growth is the cycle and the phases by which the hair develops. In Electrology, attention must be given to those two developments in order to deliver the best results in every way.

In today’s “Modern Electrology”- when you treat hairs at the speed of sound at 27 mhz, equipment and specifically needles have to reflect greater care in choices. Sizes and quality needles matter in junction with the chosen mode – should it be one or two pieces, gold or stainless steel, tapered or not.

Delivering optimum service is the package by which your fate guides you from the moment you walk-in until walking-out and it is called – a Great Experience.

“We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence then, is not a single act, but a habit.”

New England November Conference

Friday, December 7th, 2012

A beautiful day rose upon us, literally! It was 6:30 AM on a Saturday, when we took off from JFK airport heading to Logan/Boston airport. Never in our lives have we ever seen such a Chinese red sunrise. It truly defined what awaited us – a group of dedicated Electrologists from everywhere in the country eager like us – Xenia, Lia and yours truly – to network and listen to a great and energetic panel of professionals.

  • Sterilization had a lot of attention. Two hours for Infection Control, followed by the usual discussion of proper hygiene, total skin condition revue, diseases, as well as public and self-care. Did you know that Electrolysis is Class Act #1 (CDC) in delivering: safety on the skin and permanent hair removal?
  • The Canadian panel empowers the Cell Destruction Study lecture also for two hours. Academic hands on, is another hour – extremely informative on the new advanced revolutionizing techniques that we have.
  • Social media and marketing has address and reinforced our knowledge with a vibrant hour of sheer interest.

Left to right; Xenia Karicek, Lia Karaolani, Ms. Mary Evangelista, President Electrology Institute of New England, Monique Geraud

Lia,

The topics were filled with updated information about our field. The first two hours of the lecture were dedicated on the sterilization and infection control by Margaret Franckhauser, RN, MS, MPH. It is safe to say that the information was not only useful for our profession of Electrology alone. Rather many aspects should be used in our everyday life.

The following subject and most imperative was regarding the performance of the new 27 MHz advanced epilator. Great pleasure to hear that our 27 MHz Platinum Epilator has surpassed its predecessor in almost all aspects.

Once more it has been proven that attending annual seminars are vital for receiving the latest news in the field of Electrology. I personally enjoyed the event and the speakers as well.

Left to right; Mr. Clement Baumont President Dectro International, Monique Geraud, Lia Karaolani, Xenia Kacirek

Xenia,

The conference focused on innovative technology in hair removal.
The topics were great on every issue, from how to be in the moment with social media to recognizing and preventing transmitted diseases along with Sterilization /Infection Control.
The Cell Destruction Study showed the variety and permanent ways of cell destruction in hair follicles.
The conference was informative, motivating and overall recognized many successful years in the electrology field.

We Absolutely Believe in Permanent Hair Removal

Because of all the steps needed to make it right – IT is our passion! Science behind Electrolysis comes a long way since its breakthrough. Today’s state of the art technology is an amazing tool combined with the “know how” of the electrologist which assures the best successful treatment possible.

Your first meeting/Consultation is the road map of your future sessions:

a) History will come to play in choosing the best method for your type of hair – skin – sensitivity,

b) Revisit of past temporary removal; when started, frequency, duration of the process, amount of hair.

c) Now, feedback established, forecast scheduling takes place to give a sense of what is right now and moving forward.

d) When one opts to start the treatment the same day, the magnifier will determine; duration of treatment, set up correction (if need it), precise future visits.

e) Consistency of the schedule will guaranty effective, successful treatments.

There is nothing more rewarding as a client and as a professional to regain A Beautiful Skin.

As a Team, all of us this coming November, will continue our education through a Conference in Massachusetts – so we can deliver the upmost quality of service to our loyal clientele.

The Consistency of Follow up Treatments

Wednesday, July 18th, 2012

Today Zoe (not real name) walks in – Happy! It is summer after all, sticky and humid, but also full of sunshine – a lovely weekend has begun.Immediately, she notices the fresh smell of lavender essential oil (from Provence) diffused in the air and her big smile widens as she acknowledges her surroundings – as if to say – I love being here!

We have made a good start on her bikini and thighs as of last autumn, but like a true New Yorker, she has a very busy schedule.  As we proceed with the sessions, I notice and comment on her clean and smooth under arms, Zoe says, “This is the best thing I could have done to myself; remember how bushy they used to be?” Of course I do, when was your last treatment here?” “This is it, (as she strokes them to better remember the smoothness of them) since the last time with you a year ago” WOW! I am very impressed, you are the fastest results I have ever had! To which she replies, “I only wish I could have those consistent sessions today – I would be finished with my bikini project by now!”

At your Consultation/Evaluation, we cannot emphasize enough the consistency of follow up treatments – it is imperative to PERMANENCY – The objective – The goal – The resolution to “I wish it ALL would disappear!”

“To succeed, we must first believe that we can.”

The Effect of Androgens on the Hair Follicle…

Monday, February 20th, 2012

(excerps from the Journal of Electrology volume27 A.E.A)

…depends on whether the follicle is sensitive to these hormones. Some skin areas; eyelashes, eyebrows, some aspect of the scalp appear to be relatively resistant and independent of the effects of androgens and are designated as non-sexual skin areas.

Other areas, including the lower pubic triangle and the axilla (underarm) are very sensitive to the effects of even low level of androgens because of their high action of 5â reductase activity and are designated as ambosexual skin areas. The hair follicles in these areas develop terminal hairs quite early in puberty, coinciding with the minimal increases in adrenal (glands above kidney) androgens.

Other parts of the skin contain lower level of 5â-reductase and respond only to higher concentration of androgens. These include the chin, cheek, sideburn, and neck area, the upper and lower abdomen, the upper thighs and buttocks, the upper arms.

These areas are designated as sexual skin areas.

Terminal hair growth in these areas is characteristically masculine and, if present in women is considered hirsutism.

The experts say, that there is not much difference in follicles’ number between sexes within each race and ethnics groups, but rather the type of hair arising from those follicles (vellus/fine hair versus terminal/dark hair).

In women, many of the hair follicles produce vellus hairs, in men these same follicles produce terminal hairs; visible facial, chest, and abdominal hair.

Androgens also transform vellus-producing follicle to terminal hair-producing follicle, an irreversible process.

Hair is there to protect the skin and derma irritation particularly in the face, can stimulate hair growth. Excessive waxing or tweezing, abuse of depilating agents and some acid for treatment of age-related wrinkles, have all been reported to increase the length and diameter of facial hairs and possibly convert vellus to terminal hairs.

Electrolysis: The Perfect Finishing touch to Laser Hair Removal

Laser Hair Removal limitation

Like electrolysis, laser removes unwanted hair on legs, arms, chin, mostly everywhere. Because the laser beam is attracted by the melanin (pigment) of the hair, it limits itself to mostly light skin with dark terminal hairs for best results. A person with darker complexion may account situations where the laser beam may heat too much of the skin as it would do for dark terminal hair.

Risks: By Mayo Clinic Staff

Laser hair removal does not guarantee permanent hair removal. Some hair may be resistant to the laser treatment or may grow again after treatment — although the new hair growth may be finer and lighter in color. The most common side effects of laser hair removal include:

Skin irritation. Temporary irritation, crusting or scabbing is possible after laser hair removal.

Pigment changes. Laser hair removal may darken or lighten the affected skin, usually temporarily. Skin lightening primarily affects those who have darker skin, especially if an incorrect laser is used at an incorrect setting.

Rarely, laser hair removal may cause blistering, scarring or other changes in skin texture.

If you’re interested in laser hair removal, choose a doctor who’s board certified in a specialty such as dermatology or cosmetic surgery and has experience with laser hair removal. If a physician’s assistant or licensed nurse will do the procedure, make sure the doctor supervises and is available on-site during the treatments. Click here for additional information on the Mayo Clinic website

At Hairless NYC Clinic Inc., often times we encounter clients, whos needs have not been met with several sessions of laser, for reasons mentioned above, or for other motives.

This is why Electrolysis is the perfect Finishing Touch to any laser treatment – it will Terminate that growth from everywhere on the body and face without any limitation of skin tone and hair type.

“Things do not change, we change.”
